Children's Coaching Programme

Here at Peterculter we run a very successful Junior Coaching programme. From the age of 8 onwards, kids can sign up for a 20 week block of coaching for only £50, which includes membership of the club.

Peterculter Golf Club’s Children’s Coaching Programme has been running in its current form for over 10 years. During that time, over 500 children have participated, with many going on to win junior competitions throughout the North East of Scotland.

The programme is open to 8-14 year olds and takes a wide range of abilities, from complete beginners through to those about to qualify for full handicap. The programme utilises the Club Golf Coaching programme provided through the SGU. We use volunteer coaches who have all qualified through the PGA coaching programme, completed the statutory Disclosure Scotland check and attended a child protection course.

The coaching is split into two sections:

1. A Development group for beginners and children with some previous exposure to golf.
2. An Advanced group, who have completed the development stage or who are assessed at the outset to having acquired all the basic skills.

The aim of the programme is to introduce children to the game of golf and develop their skills through 20 lesson block, held at the practice ground or on the golf course.

Important Information

Make sure children come prepared with their golf clubs, warm clothing and waterproofs as the practice area can be quite exposed.

In the event of bad weather a decision to proceed or to cancel the coaching sessions will be made by 2pm and communicated to the Pro shop. A message will be posted on the Peterculter website or you can contact the Pro shop on 01224 734994 after 2pm to check that the coaching session is on.

Please ensure that your child has arrived at the practice area 10 minutes before the lesson starts so that we can sort the children into groups with the various coaches. Failure to do this results in delayed lesson start/foreshortened lessons for all.

Schools Coaching

During the winter months our Professional, Ross, visits local Primary Schools to deliver 4 week block sessions to kids during their PE lessons in a bid to introduce kids to the game and encourage them to join our coaching programme.

Due to continued rain through the night and again this morning the course is closed. The Greenkeepers have shifted as much water from the bunkers as they can and tried to clear water off the greens but due to the amount of rain they are saturated and the course will remain closed all day.
