Senior Gents Information

PEGGS (Peterculter Elderly Gents Golfing Section)

The PEGGS is a section within the Senior Gents membership of Peterculter Golf Club. They play almost every Monday morning throughout the season and right through the winter also. A draw is made each Monday for the following week and it appears on the clubs booking system so that you can add or remove your name or just check your time. Cost is £20 per season and this covers all the prize money.

PEGGS Special Events

Throughout the year there are three Texas Scrambles followed by a lunch. They are held:

* at the end of the summer programme (after the time changes)
* pre Christmas
* at the end of the winter programme (before the time changes)

After these lunches the section convener chairs a meeting to discuss any matters which have arisen during the season so that all PEGGS members have an opportunity to put forward any suggestions which can be discussed and a vote taken where necessary.

CADS - Central Aberdeen District Seniors

The CADS is a form of open competitions around Aberdeen for all Senior members of the participating clubs, Peterculter is of course one of them.
Entry fee is £7

Competitions are stableford format played off the yellow tees.

Winter League 2022/2023

Winter League 2022/2023 Rules apply to Saturday and Sunday Sections

Play will be fourball better ball matchplay, played to conclusion over 16 holes.
• The number of players will dictate the sizes of the leagues, when the draw is done, we will endeavour to have the teams in the times they requested, if possible.
• Two points awarded for each win and one point for a draw. If two teams agree not to play and the course is open, no points will be awarded. (Contact details must be provided)
• The league matches will be played in sequence. If a week is missed due to adverse weather, the match will be played the first available week thereafter. The matches will then continue as per the tee sheet.
• If no time to play the fixture, then zero points will be added to the teams in the league table.

• The top four teams from each section will qualify for the knockouts and a seeded draw will be made, this will be defined once we know how many players in each leagues we have.
• In the event of a tie for points at the end of the league the following rules will apply:
1. Team with most wins will go through.
2. The match result between the two teams tying (if more than 2 teams are tied it will be a back calculation of the matches played between all tied teams).
3. If time allows a playoff, otherwise it will be a coin toss.
4. If any dispute the Saturday/Sunday Convenor(s) will make a final decision.

Handicaps/Strokes:
• Maximum HI for any player will be 20. All handicaps will be according to a player’s playing handicap. Rounded up if over .5 and down if .4.
Handicaps will be calculated at 50% of the difference irrespective of summer or winter greens in play. Lowest player goes to zero and others take 50% of difference.
Course Care:
• Mats to be used on fairway and within one club length of the fairway. No mats to be used in the rough.
• Bunkers will all be out of play all the time. Players to remove ball and play from a MAT keeping the bunker between themselves and the flag.
• Please take extra care to repair pitch marks on Summer Greens which will be soft and more easily damaged.
Substitutions:
• Subs are allowed during the league section and up to the semi-finals but at least one player from a team must be present, you can take external subs if you require, and they must pay a green fee of £10.
• The same sub can be used several times and a player from Saturday can sub for Sunday and vice versa.
• If a team does not make their tee off time the opposition must tee off at their allocated time until the opposition turns up. if the opposition does not turn up after 9 holes then a win is recorded.
• Single players can play on their own if they cannot get a sub.
• We will try and get subs if you cannot manage to get one, please contact Gents committee.

Very Important!
• All scores must be entered on fixtures sheet in locker room on the day of play.
• Only scores recorded on the fixture sheet will be recorded. Any score not recorded on the fixture sheet will be deemed a half, as it is up to both teams to ensure the score has been recorded.
• It will be up to each section to decide on sweeps and to organise them. Convenor(s) are only responsible for rules scores, draws and to decide on any disputes.

• Mike Archer - Saturday Convenor
• Iain Bruce - Sunday Convenor
